Book Reviews

Sep23

Welcome to my 'Book Club'.

As well as my own review of the book, I have also added the synopsis from Barnes & Noble. (Now the synopsis isn't always a synopsis of the book... I just cut and paste from B&N.) Also, I added a link to the book at Barnes & Noble in case you want to buy it for yourself. There is also a 'read an excerpt' link as well. I know I like to peek into a book before reading and/or buying, so I thought the 'read an excerpt' link would be a fine addition to the Book Club.

As always, if you have any reading suggestions, please throw them my way. Comments are always welcome here.

Note: I am not affiliated with Barnes & Noble in any way, form, or fashion. I'm not making any money off the links to the books. I just happen to enjoy Barnes & Noble bookstores and the fact they have excerpts from the books available online.

Laugh A Little

Sep23

I read an article somewhere that said laughing in bed is a bad thing.  Maybe it was a TV show while I was on my sick leave.  I can't remember.  The point is that whomever said this said that laughing in bed is totally unacceptable in bed.  Apparently it can ruin a mood.  And laughter during sex (before, during, and after) isn't healthy to a relationship.

I beg to differ.

Now, I acknowledge that there is a certain kind of laughter that is unacceptable in bed.  If you are making fun of your bed buddy in a mean and spiteful way, say the size of the equipment, then yeah, it's not kosher.  I also think if you are mean enough to have a laugh at someone's expense in the middle of sex, then you don't deserve to be sleeping with them or anyone.  Just my opinion, but I digress.

Back to the topic, what is wrong with a good laugh in bed?  Laughter is healthy after all.  What's wrong with laughing when you accidentally hit a ticklish spot?  Or when something crazy happens?  One time my bra wouldn't come undone.  Seriously.  The clasp got pushed down somehow so we couldn't get the hook off.  It was hilarious.  We were both laughing like crazy at sheer absurdness of the situation.  And it didn't ruin the mood by any means.

So to the laughter-in-bed-nay-sayer, I think you haven't been with the right person.  Maybe someone laughed at you in a mean way during sex.  And that totally sucks.  But to completely outlaw laughter in bed?  I just think you need to find a good bed buddy... and to have a good in-bed laugh.
